Forest School Leadership Training at Westonbirt Arboretum
Wonderful Westonbirt Arboretum provided the perfect venue for the new Forest School Leadership course run by Ruth Parsons from Woodland Learning. The whole course took place outside with Silk Wood barn for shelter. Throughout the week students learned about Forest School, from woodland wildlife and management to how to help children learn and develop through being a part of the natural world. All learning was through hands-on activities, discussions, sharing and practice. Lots of tea was drunk and students made friends and helped and supported each other which they will continue to do as they practice for assessment in February and complete their portfolios. Eventually they will become qualified Forest School Leaders and will be able to share the magic with lots of children, giving them all a great time learning in inspirational woodlands.
It is hoped the course will be repeated at Westonbirt next year.
