Woodland Learning was set up in 2006 by Ruth Parsons. Ruth has worked in environmental education for over 25 years and loves it more than ever!

She began with a BTCV (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers) working holiday in 1981 and got hooked! She has a BTEC HND Conservation Management; BSc Hons Ecology; Level 3 Forest School Leaders award and Level 4 Forest School Trainers award; C&G 3730 Teaching Adults; Certificate in Child Protection and a current First Aid certificate. Ruth loves growing vegetables and has twice won the Swindon Allotment and Leisure Gardens prize for best School Grounds.

Most importantly she has lots of experience of helping people of all ages to enjoy being outside and connecting with nature and the world and communities we live in.  She endeavours to work along the principals of permaculture. She has worked for CVNI (Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland); The Great Western Community Forest; Roves Farm; National Trails; The Northmoor Trust and for the longest period of time Woodland Learning. All of these positions have been in an educational role.

Ruth loves being outside and sharing the experience with others, every day (except office days!) work is a pleasure. Her enthusiasm shines through. She lives in an eco-house in the Cotswolds with her husband where they enjoy gardening, walks and bike rides and going to the local pub with friends.

Woodland Learning has now become a Ltd. Company registration number 8007543. Woodland Learning has £5,000,000 public liability insurance. Ruth Parsons has a Swindon Borough Council enhanced CRB check.

Ruth’s lovely nephew Simon helps to look after this web site.
